Interview: Aneessa

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your latest album, and what themes or stories you aimed to convey through your music?

My upcoming album is a reflection of the many chapters of life, love, and growth. It’s inspired by my personal experiences, relationships, and the emotional landscapes I’ve navigated. The themes range from love and resilience to self-discovery and positivity. I aimed to convey a message of hope and empowerment, drawing from my own journey.

Music often has the power to transport people to different places and times. Can you describe a moment in your life when a particular song or album had a profound impact on you?

Absolutely. One of those moments was when I first heard Sade’s album « Diamond Life. » The smooth, soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics resonated deeply with me. It was a pivotal moment when I realized the profound impact music could have on emotions. It’s an album that’s left an indelible mark on my musical journey.

Many artists have rituals or routines they follow before performing or recording. Do you have any unique or quirky pre-show or pre-recording rituals that you find help you get in the zone?

While I don’t have any particularly quirky rituals, I do find it important to take a moment for meditation and reflection before a performance or recording session. It helps me center myself and connect with the emotions I want to convey through my music.

Your lyrics often tell a story or convey a message. Can you share the story behind one of your songs and the inspiration that led to its creation?

Certainly. The song « Gonna Be Alright » holds a special place for me. It was inspired by the idea that no matter what challenges life throws at us, we can overcome them with hope and resilience. This song is a reminder that, even in difficult times, we have the strength to carry on.

If you could curate a music festival with a lineup of your dream artists, who would be the headliners, and what would the theme of the festival be?

My dream festival would have headliners like Stevie Wonder, 70s and 90 rnb/sou; Music Artist, neo soul artists, and Bruno Mars, artists who bring a dynamic and engaging energy to their performances. The theme of the festival would be « Harmony in Diversity, » celebrating the rich tapestry of musical genres and cultures from around the world.

Music can be a powerful tool for advocacy and change. Are there any social or political causes that you’re passionate about, and how does your music play a role in promoting these issues?

I’m passionate about spreading messages of positivity, unity, and love. While I don’t align with specific political causes, my music is a way to advocate for emotional well-being and resilience, especially during challenging times. I believe that music has the power to connect people and encourage them to make the world a better place.

The music industry has evolved significantly with technology. How do you see artificial intelligence and emerging technologies impacting the creation and distribution of music in the future?

The impact of technology on music is undeniable. Artificial intelligence and emerging tech have the potential to revolutionize music production, making it more accessible to aspiring artists. It can also personalize music experiences for listeners. However, I believe that the heart and soul of music will always be in the creativity of the human spirit.

Many recording artists evolve over time. How do you see your musical journey changing and growing in the next decade?

In the next decade, I see my musical journey continuing to evolve and expand. I’ll explore new genres, collaborate with diverse artists, and use technology to reach a global audience. My goal is to keep creating music that uplifts and inspires, and to connect with fans on a deeper level.
